More adventures in manual mode

I had another night of waiting for dinner so I took the kids in the backyard for yet another photoshoot. I'm starting to get the hang of manual mode, figuring out what works and what definitely doesn't work. Here are my two favorites.

Pumpkin Time

Last week Brad was able to take off early one day and we decided to take a spur of the moment trip up to Bishop's Pumpkin Farm. We love this place and we look forward to going every year. Jacob got so excited about the humongous slide and Abby seemed to enjoy the hay trampoline this year. It was a great afternoon and I look forward to many more of these family traditions.

Over the past year I've been getting more and more into photography but I have yet to really play around with my camera. My kids are usually running around so quickly that I just don't have time mess with it and usually end up using the settings already programmed in camera (and then touch things up in Photoshop). Tonight I had a little extra time while dinner was in the oven so I took Abby outside to figure out the manual mode. These are the only two that turned out decent (the rest were blurry--I have some learning to do) but I'm hoping to take some classes so I can actually use all of the great features my camera has. (Oh, and I'm still a cheater and used Photoshop with these, too.)

Maybe, just maybe...

Ee-i-ee-i-o!

Today we headed over to the local high school for their annual Farm Fest to support the FFA. I love that even though we live in a suburban area we are right in the middle of small farms full of horses, goats, and even a few cows (like the neighbor behind us.) We were the only ones there, which was a little sad especially because these high school kids worked so hard to create fun games and prizes. But I must say that the one on one attention was great for Jacob and he had a blast! He had a horseshoe painted on his cheek, visited the petting zoo and made friends with a really portly goat and chased a flock of ducks, and he played in the giant bounce house. It really was a lot of fun and I got some great pictures of our fun outing.
