This afternoon I decided to begin an internet hunt for a cute, vintage camera bag. That's when I remembered that my dad had given me his camera a few weeks before he passed. When he was younger my father was very into photography (and I have the gorgeous photos of my young mom to prove it. They were quite the stunning couple). I had just started showing a greater interest in photography before he died and he told me that he would be happy if I would take his camera. So this afternoon I took everything out of the bag again and realized that he really did know what he was doing. Lenses, filters, flash, you name it, he had it. And I even found this.
A brochure from Sutters Fort when he accompanied my sister's fourth grade class on their field trip. My dad really did save everything.
So here is a picture of his beautiful camera.
Oh, and I'm still searching for a camera bag. I've decided to leave Dad's the way it is and store his camera and lenses in it. So if anyone knows where I can get a cute one, let me know.

How cute! Love the self-portrait too. Check out these bags - maybe a good Christmas present...

Megan,
Last night I did my nightly blog tour before heading to bed and ended up at MckMama's blog in the comments for her beautiful post about giving back to all of those who have been praying for her. I scrolled down through the many comments, a few jumped out at me and I stopped to pray for them. When yours stopped me, I prayed, and then I linked to your blog.
I lost my dad March 29th of this year. He was 61. He had been diagnosed with cancer in May of 2007 and although things looked good for awile, about this time last year it spread to his brain and things progressed rapidly after that.
I have three kids, my oldest is 10 and was blessed with some time with my dad, but my boys, they are 3 and 1. I totally understand how you feel about them being shorted that time with your dad. My youngest and your youngest must be almost exactly the same age. His birthday is April 2, 2007.
When I came here I laughed and cried, seeing our babies so close in age and your journey in photogrpahy. I have always loved taking pictures. Last year for Christmas my parents and brothers blessed me with a digital SLR and I have been in heaven since. I even had my first couple of "gigs" recently. I'm learning, and love seeing your beautiful pictures as you are learning too!
I debated on commenting, but thought that God wouldn't have sent me here if I wasn't supposed to be here. So I thought I should say hello and let you know that somewhere in Illinois your feelings are understood and prayers are coming your way!
